IPTV glossary

What is 4K UHD?

4K UHD (Ultra High Definition) is a picture resolution of 3840 × 2160 pixels — four times the detail of Full HD 1080p.

Last updated:

Also called: Ultra HD, 2160p, 4K IPTV.

To watch in 4K you need three things: content that is broadcast or encoded in 4K, a 4K-capable screen and streaming device, and a connection fast and stable enough for the higher bitrate.

On IPTV, 4K is usually offered on selected channels and titles rather than the whole lineup, so player apps show them in their own category or with a 4K label. Other channels play in HD or Full HD.

How does 4K UHD apply to FORTTV4K?

FORTTV4K streams in 4K on channels and titles available in 4K, on devices such as Fire TV Stick 4K, Apple TV 4K and 4K Smart TVs.

Common questions about 4K UHD

Do I need a 4K TV to watch 4K IPTV?

Yes: a 4K screen, a 4K-capable streaming device and enough bandwidth. On an HD TV, a 4K stream is scaled down and looks the same as HD.

Are all IPTV channels in 4K?

No. Only programmes produced and broadcast in 4K play in 4K; most channels are HD or Full HD.
